California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) is considered a favored Democratic candidate in the 2028 presidential election.
But someone very close to Newsom does not want that to happen.
That person? His son, Newsom told CNN’s Dana Bash on “State of the Union,” per The Hill.
“My son, Romeo, was very powerful, texted me a few months ago, and there was some headline that suggested that I made some decision, and he goes, ‘Dad, are you running president?’” Newsom said.
‘I said, ‘No, we’ll do decision as a family.’ He goes, ‘You can’t.’ I said, ‘Why?’ He goes, ’I’m too young. You need to spend more time with us,’” he continued. “I mean, how do you deal with that one?”
Watch:
Newsom has been outspoken against President Donald Trump (R) and has been seen as a contender in the next presidential election.
His press office has adopted similar social media tactics to Trump’s, including posting in all caps and using brash language, in mocking Trump and his allies.
Newsom has stepped up his game by appearing on the world stage and making trips to Davos, Switzerland, last month for the World Economic Forum and to the Munich Security Conference earlier this month.
