New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) is facing criticism for how she described the thousands of people who turned out for former President Donald Trump’s rally in the Bronx.

Hochul appeared on CNN Thursday evening ahead of the rally and dismissed the idea her state will go for Trump in the general election, saying, “I’ll tell you what won’t make a difference at all… that is for Donald Trump to be a ringleader and invite all his clowns to a place like the Bronx.”

“New York will never, ever support Donald Trump for president. We know him better than anyone,” she continued. “This state will go solidly behind Joe Biden for president as it has in the past.”

Hochul added, “So, he wants to spend his time doing his made up, fake rallies and pretending there’s support here, be my guest… Go ahead, spend all the time you want in New York, because we will be with Joe Biden.”

Trump’s rally was notable as it was the first in over 40 years a Republican presidential nominee to campaign in the Bronx.

Additionally, it was the first time since 2016 he held a rally in New York State.

The New York Post reports thousands of fans tried to show up for the former president, however, only 3,500 were allowed into the park.

Earlier this month, Hochul came under fire for claiming there are “young Black kids growing up in the Bronx who don’t even know what the word ‘computer’ is. They don’t know. They don’t know these things.”

In a statement to Post at the time, Hochul said, “I misspoke and I regret it.”

“Of course Black children in the Bronx know what computers are — the problem is that they too often lack access to the technology needed to get on track to high-paying jobs in emerging industries like AI. That’s why I’ve been focused on increasing economic opportunity since Day One of my Administration,” she added.
