There may be drama from time to time on the floor a state House of Representatives, but what happened Wednesday was called “political theater.”
That is when two Black Drag Queens performed a dance for the Oregon House of Representatives. The performance was done in honor of a resolution from Democrats acknowledging “the artistry of black drag performers,” state Rep. Travis E. Nelson told the New York Post.
State Rep. Dwayne Yunker (R-3) expressed his aversion to the performance on X.
“This was the Oregon House floor this morning used to celebrate Black Drag Queens,” he wrote. “I’m not sure the Founding Fathers envisioned taxpayer-funded legislative chambers being turned into platforms for political theater. The House floor is meant for serious debate, lawmaking, and serving all Oregonians not partisan spectacles designed to push cultural agendas.”
