Former Attorney General Pam Bondi, who is reportedly battling thyroid cancer, has been appointed by President Donald Trump to serve on an advisory panel focused on Artificial Intelligence policy.
Trump dismissed Bondi as attorney general in April, and she will now return to the White House to serve on the Presidential Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST), according to Axios. She received a thyroid cancer diagnosis shortly after she left the Department of Justice, the outlet reported, citing an anonymous source.
Bondi’s role was announced by billionaire David Sacks, co-chair of the PCAST.
“Winning the AI race means not only beating China but also clearing bureaucratic hurdles thrown up by state legislatures and woke politicians in D.C. No one is better positioned to support PCAST in this mission and to advise the president on legal and regulatory barriers than Pam Bondi,” Sacks said in an X Post.
The group is focused on artificial intelligence policy and competition with China. Bondi is expected to help coordinate “between the government and tech titans on the panel,” Axios reported.
