President Donald Trump warned Wednesday that potential terrorist āsleeper cellsā could already be inside the United States, suggesting many may have entered during former President Joe Bidenās border policies.
Speaking to reporters during a press gaggle, Trump said he has been briefed on various security threats, including intelligence about a possible drone-based attack targeting California. While officials are still investigating the report, Trump said authorities are monitoring potential threats closely.
āA lot of people came in through Biden with his stupid open border, but we know where most of them are: Weāve got our eye on all of them, I think,ā Trump told reporters.
The president sharply criticized his predecessor while discussing the security risks.
āThey came in through the open-border policies of Sleepy Joe Biden, one of the worst ā the worst president in the history of our country ā and weāve got our eyes on all of them,ā Trump said.
The comments come amid rising tensions with Iran and ongoing U.S. military operations in the region. Trump praised the current campaign against the Iranian regime, describing it as one of the most effective military efforts he has seen.
āBut the war itself is being prosecuted at a level that nobody has seen before,ā Trump said. āItās pretty ā itās pretty amazing to watch.ā
When asked about a recently reported law enforcement bulletin warning of a possible Iranian revenge plot involving a drone swarm launched from an offshore vessel near California, Trump confirmed the matter is under review.
āItās being investigated, but you have a lot of things happening, and all we can do is take them as they come,ā he said.
The intelligence alert referenced a scenario where a boat operating offshore could deploy multiple drones toward a target along the California coastline. Officials say the threat information has been circulating since February but has received renewed attention as Iran has threatened retaliation against both Israel and the United States.
Trump maintained that the military campaign against Iran is being carried out with exceptional precision and effectiveness.
āThe war itself is being prosecuted as well as anybody has ever seen, and this is other countries telling me too,ā he said.
According to Trump, international leaders have privately expressed admiration for the U.S. response.
āBig countries, powerful countries, they said theyāve never seen anything like it,ā Trump added. āAnd they also agree with what Iām doing. They say itās an evil country, and itās been for 47 years that way.ā
The remarks come as the conflict with Iran continues to escalate, with recent reports indicating that U.S. forces destroyed multiple Iranian mine-laying boats in the Strait of Hormuz amid rising tensions over global oil shipping lanes.
