Princess of Wales Reveals She is in Remission From Cancer

It seemed rather fitting that the Princess of Wales revealed she is in remission on the same day she visited the place she received her cancer treatments.

“It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focussed on recovery. As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead,” the princess wrote on X on Tuesday. “There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support.”

Earlier on Tuesday, Catherine visited the Royal Marsden Hospital in west London,” the BBC reported.

While there, she was able to thank the staff who took care of her while she was undergoing treatment for cancer. Some was also able to visit patients currently receiving treatment, telling them there was “light at the end of that tunnel.”

The exact cancer she was fighting was never disclosed.

Catherine announced her diagnosis in March. She then announced in September that her chemotherapy treatments had ended.

“Doing what I can to stay cancer free is now my focus,” she said at the time.

Catherine thanked those at the hospital for taking care of both her and her husband, Prince William.

“My heartfelt thanks goes to all those who have quietly walked alongside William and me as we have navigated everything. We couldn’t have asked for more.”

On Tuesday morning, the princess told a woman undergoing chemotherapy, “It’s really tough… It’s such a shock… Everyone said to me, ‘please keep a positive mindset, it makes such a difference.'”

She admitted she is still feeling the effects from her treatment.

“You think the treatment has finished and you can crack on and get back to normal, but that’s still a real challenge,” she said.

“The words totally disappear. And understanding that as a patient — yes, there are side effects around treatment, but actually there are more long-term side effects.”

When asked, Catherine said she is doing well and added, “Sometimes from the outside we all think you’ve finished treatment and you go back to things. But it’s hard to get back to normal.”

The princess’ cancer was discovered last January when she had abdominal surgery.

Catherine has become the hospital’s joint royal patron along with Prince William, who is already a patron, per BBC.

Prince William’s mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, had previously been a royal patron.
