Prosecutors in Hush Money Case Aren’t Against Move That Could Delay Trump’s Sentencing

When the U.S. Supreme Court handed down a decision regarding presidential immunity, it affected the 💵Hush Money case against former President 👤Donald Trump.

Trump has requested to file a motion that his 💵Hush Money conviction should be tossed, per ABC News.

This is a move that would most likely delay Trump’s July 11 ⚖️Sentencing.

But on Tuesday, the Manhattan district attorney’s office said it would not oppose a delay in ⚖️Sentencing.

“Although we believe defendant’s arguments to be without merit, we do not oppose his request for leave to file and his putative request to adjourn ⚖️Sentencing pending determination of his motion,” assistant district attorney Josh Steinglass said in a letter to Judge Juan Merchan, who presided over the case.

The DA’s office did request two weeks to respond to the defense’s motion.

Trump’s attorneys acted swiftly following the Supreme Court’s decision by sending a letter to Merchan requesting his New York conviction thrown out, sources said.

The Supreme Court issued a ruling Monday that Trump has some presidential immunity from criminal prosecution regarding the actions he took to overturn results of the 2020 election.

Trump’s attorneys will argue his conviction on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records should be thrown out because of the Supreme Court’s decision.

Merchan has not ruled on Trump’s request to file his motion. He also has not decided about the ⚖️Sentencing date change.
