The man suspected in an Apparent Assassination Attempt of former President Donald Trump allegedly put pen to paper detailing his plan months before the shooting.
In court documents filed Monday, prosecutors alleged Ryan Routh, 58, blatantly said in a letter, “This was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump,” per The Hill.
“Dear world, this was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump but I am so sorry I failed you. I tried my best and gave it all the gumption I could muster,” Routh allegedly wrote in the letter.
Prosecutors Routh put the letter inside a box and gave it to an unnamed witness “several months” before he shot at Trump at the Republican presidential candidate’s West Palm Beach golf course in Florida Sept. 15.
