Several people online are responding to a post on Reddit that shows a teacher’s bathroom policy, limiting bathroom usage for students.

Multiple people slammed a teacher who instituted a bathroom policy, limiting students to be allowed to use the restroom three times a month, according to a post on Reddit. One user encouraged the poster to ā€œwalk outā€ while others joked about making a corner in the room a ā€œpiss corner.ā€

ā€œJust walk out,ā€ one person wrote. ā€œWhat are they gonna do? Tell your parents you went to pee?ā€

ā€œPick a corner, any corner,ā€ another user joked. ā€œThat’s the piss corner now. Make sure the whole class knows.ā€

Another person advised the poster that the teacher ā€œreally can’t stopā€ students from leaving to use the restroom.

ā€œGo to a guidance counselor/principal,ā€ the person wrote. ā€œIf that doesn’t work I’m sure there’s a local newspaper that would love to write a story about freedom of the piss.ā€

ā€œIf I was a parent of a student of this teacher she would be hearing from me,ā€ another person wrote. ā€œI get it that kids may use this as an excuse to get out of class but maybe the kid has a medical issue, drinks a lot of water, or has chronic diarrhea.ā€

Another person shared that their son’s school had ā€œtried this.ā€

ā€œI told him to just walk out if he needed to and I would deal with the consequence,ā€ the user wrote. ā€œI sent an email letting the school know he was in charge of his own bladder and if they had a problem we could discuss with my attorney.ā€

In a September 2022 essay from Business Insider, a parent wrote that her children had shared that their teachers only allowed them to use the bathroom 3-4 times a semester. The parent was shocked to learn from other parents on Facebook that their children’s teacher had instituted a similar bathroom policy.

ā€œWhere I live, middle-school students are given four bathroom passes per semester and get rewards, such as movie days and snacks, based on how many they didn’t use,ā€ a Minnesota parent of two, Heather Holter said. ā€œThe sixth- through twelfth-grade lunch bathrooms are locked because the school is worried about vaping.ā€
