WASHINGTON — Republican Georgia Rep. Rich McCormick sat down with the Daily Caller News Foundation to discuss his viral 2024 confrontation with Dr. Anthony Fauci, the upcoming midterms and his proposal to make the swamp square.

In an exclusive DCNF interview, the second-term congressman also spoke about his recent vote for the $1.15 trillion National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), the status of Reconciliation 3.0 , the U.S.’ data center race with China and his plan to end so-called “birth tourism” for good.

McCormick — one of just 20 physicians in Congress — also shared his thoughts about the pharmaceutical industry and Dr. Anthony Fauci, who appeared in front of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs on Wednesday. The congressman correctly predicted that Fauci would plead the Fifth during the hearing, citing the preemptive pardon former President Joe Biden gave him on his last day in office.

The congressman also predicted that with regard to the midterms, Democrats’ “extremism will be their downfall.” He also acknowledged that the unpopularIran war will “have some impact” on the November elections.

Although the Georgia Republican discussed several recent bills he proposed with the DCNF, one that stood out was his Make DC Square Again Act. This legislation would, as its name implies, restore the nation’s capital to its 19th century borders which originally included Arlington and Alexandria, now part of Virginia.

While McCormick conceded the bill will “probably not” pass, he underscored that it “makes people think” about the extent of the influence Washington D.C. exerts over Politics outside its borders.

“We never thought that D.C. would become this big,” he told the DCNF. “Now, D.C. is basically ruling over Virginia, has made it into a social haven for socialists.”

“D.C. has contaminated the entire voting system,” McCormick added.
