Mia Bieniemy, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy is in stable condition after she was allegedly shot by the couple’s son.

Mia Bieniemy, 57, was shot in the couple’s Virginia home Sunday night. Their son has been charged in the shooting.

Mia Bieniemy was taken to a local hospital in stable condition. Sources told ESPN that Mia Bieniemy was shot in the chest and arm.

Police later arrested and charged Elijah Zion Bieniemy, 27, with malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and discharge of a firearm inside of a dwelling.

Per ESPN, Elijah Bieniemy is being held without bond at a detention center in Loudoun County, according to police.

Eric Bieniemy left Chiefs’ training camp and was not at Monday’s practice. He was with the Chiefs on Sunday in St. Joseph, Missouri, at the campus of Missouri Western State for their second practice of training camp.

"Our hearts go out to Eric Bieniemy," Chiefs coach Andy Reid said after Monday's practice. "Mia is stable, which is a plus. We all love EB, and you hate seeing those things happen."

In a statement obtained by ESPN, the Chiefs confirmed they were “aware of the incident involving Eric Bieniemy’s family.”
