Christian evangelist Rev. Franklin Graham reacted to the latest Supreme Court ruling involving abortion, calling it âone of the most significantâ rulings.
Graham is the CEO and president of Samaritanâs Purse and the CEO and president of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
He told Fox News Friday, âThe United States Supreme Court just announced one of the most significant rulings in my lifetime â officially voting to overturn the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision because it was âegregiously wrong from the start,â as stated by Justice Samuel Alito.â
Graham continued, âThe radical left is calling for a ânight of rage,â pregnancy centers are already being vandalized and attacked, and our U.S. Supreme Court justices are being targeted with threats and intimidation.â
He argued Roe v. Wade, âpassed 49 years ago, has resulted in the deaths of over 63 million innocent children in this country. Sadly, this decision is not an end to abortion â it pushes the battle back to the states.â
Additionally, Graham told the outlet his prayer is âthat every state will enact protections for children in the wombâ and âthat our nation will value life and recognize the rights of our most vulnerable.â
Attorney General Merrick Garland announced the Department of Justice would not tolerate violence in the wake of the decision, as IJR reported.
âAdvocates with different views on this issue have the right to, and will, voice their opinions. Peacefully expressing a view is protected by the First Amendment,â Garland said in a statement.
He added, âBut we must be clear that violence and threats of violence are not. The Justice Department will not tolerate such acts.â
President Joe Biden called on protesters to demonstrate peacefully while delivering remarks.
