Robert Downey Jr: ‘Oppenheimer’ Is the ‘Best Film I’ve Ever Been In’

Actor Robert Downey Jr. praised his upcoming movie, “🎬Oppenheimer,” at the London Premier Thursday, according to People Magazine.

He said, “This is the best film I’ve ever been in and I cannot wait for you all to experience it.”

The audience cheered as he went on to describe the film, which depicts the creation and the use of the atomic bomb during World War II. 

J. Robert 🎬Oppenheimer is known as the father of the atomic bomb, according to the Washington Post. This was executed through the New Mexico-based Manhattan Project and inspired Director Christopher Nolan.

Nolan shot the film in just 57 days and is known for quick prep. Executive producer Thomas Hayslip stated, “Chris is of the mind that he and the crew need 12 weeks of prep and we’ll get it done in 12 weeks, and any more than that is just a waste of time.”

The film was shot at a town the crew built in the desert of New Mexico called Ghost Ranch in order for authenticity. 

Actor Matt Damon, who is also in the film, said, “Nobody is ever, ever, ever going to convince me that this would be better if shot on a soundstage.”

“The unpredictability and reality of being out there just gives you something that you can’t get in a controlled environment,” he added.

“🎬Oppenheimer” opens Friday and Downey Jr. expressed the film “transcends” all expectations at the premiere and had nothing but positive comments about his experience working with Nolan. 

He concluded, “This is what a summer blockbuster, when I was growing up, used to be. It just kind of, like, changed your life. But again, you know, it’s why Chris Nolan is who he is.”
