Grady Demond Wilson, who played Lamont in the ’70s show ā€œSanford and Son,ā€ has died.

He was 79.

His son, Demond Wilson Jr., confirmed his Death, which happened Friday morning at his home in Palm Springs, California, MS NOW reported.

Wilson died due to complications related to cancer, his son said.

The younger Wilson did not reveal what can we took his father’s life.

He went by Demond Wilson professionally.

Wilson’s son told TMZ, ā€œI loved him. He was a great man.ā€

He was probably best known as Lamont Sanford, the son of Fred Sanford on ā€œSanford and Son,ā€ which ran on NBC from 1972 to 1977.

He then went on to play Raymond Ellis in one season of ā€œBaby… I’m Back!ā€

He then starred in ā€œThe New Odd Coupleā€ in the early ’80s. That’s show, too, ran for one season.

Wilson served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a wounded and decorated veteran.

He became an ordained minister in 1984 and later founded Restoration House to help provide vocational and spiritual guidance to former inmates. He wrote several books, including his 2009 memoir ā€œSecond Banana: Bittersweet Memoir of the Sanford and Son Years.ā€

As news of his Death emerged, fans paid tribute to him on social media.

One wrote, ā€œSo sad, condolences to his family, friends, and fans, Sanford, and son Was an iconic show.ā€
