Grady Demond Wilson, who played Lamont in the ā70s show āSanford and Son,ā has died.
He was 79.
His son, Demond Wilson Jr., confirmed his Death, which happened Friday morning at his home in Palm Springs, California, MS NOW reported.
Wilson died due to complications related to cancer, his son said.
The younger Wilson did not reveal what can we took his fatherās life.
He went by Demond Wilson professionally.
Wilsonās son told TMZ, āI loved him. He was a great man.ā
He was probably best known as Lamont Sanford, the son of Fred Sanford on āSanford and Son,ā which ran on NBC from 1972 to 1977.
He then went on to play Raymond Ellis in one season of āBaby⦠Iām Back!ā
He then starred in āThe New Odd Coupleā in the early ā80s. Thatās show, too, ran for one season.
Wilson served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a wounded and decorated veteran.
He became an ordained minister in 1984 and later founded Restoration House to help provide vocational and spiritual guidance to former inmates. He wrote several books, including his 2009 memoir āSecond Banana: Bittersweet Memoir of the Sanford and Son Years.ā
As news of his Death emerged, fans paid tribute to him on social media.
One wrote, āSo sad, condolences to his family, friends, and fans, Sanford, and son Was an iconic show.ā
