Former White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders is offering her opinion on why previous employees of President Donald Trump are speaking out against him.
ABCâs George Stephanopoulos noted former U.S. national security advisor John Bolton, the presidentâs former personal attorney Michael Cohen, former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, and former Defense Secretary Jim Mattis have all been âcriticalâ of Trump.
Stephanopoulos asked Sanders if she could explain why those former officials have a different view of the president from the one she has.
âWell, I think itâs really simple. I think mine is actually the honest account. Youâre looking at people who have left as disgruntled employees, people who tried to push their own agenda,â Sanders said.
Watch her comments below:
Stephanopoulos pressed Sanders on why those former officials have a different account of their time with Trump than hers.
Sanders stressed it was the American people who voted for Trumpâs âagenda,â not the âagendaâ of his former employees.
She explained they had a âvery different agendaâ than Trump, and there is going to be âfriction when those moments happen.â
Stephanopoulos argued they were chosen by Trump for those positions.
âCertainly having a difference of opinion is not a bad thing and I think thatâs one of the reasons the president has been successful,â Sanders said.
She continued, âHeâs willing to listen to those people, but at the end of the day itâs his decision to make and I think heâs done a fantastic job doing that.â
Sanders said she believes her side of the story is âvery candidâ and âvery authentic.â
The release of her book âSpeaking for Myself: Faith, Freedom, and the Fight of Our Lives Inside the Trump White House,â comes amid the release of Cohenâs book. In âDisloyal: A Memoir,â Cohen accuses the president of making racist and sexist comments regularly, as IJR previously reported.
