Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy expressed doubt on Thursday that former White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre can âsquareâ her years-long lies about former President Joe Biden in response to her new book deal.
Jean-Pierre announced the release of her book, âIndependent,â set to be published in October and stated that she is leaving the Democrat Party over its âbetrayalâ to Biden. As she tries to make a comeback in the public eye, Doocy told âFox & Friendsâ that she likely cannot escape her long track record of lying to the press and the American people.
âThe thing about this book is that she, towards the end, before Biden dropped out after Biden dropped out, she would say that legitimate questions were misinformation and I told her once, âyou canât just call something that you donât like misinformation,ââ Doocy said. âAnd so I donât know how sheâs going to square being the public face of saying things that were not true about the president and about policies. I donât know how sheâs just going to come out and say, âyou know what? Just because I swore on camera that things were okay, actually hereâs what was really going on.ââ

Doocy repeatedly confronted Jean-Pierre on Bidenâs cognitive ability while the White House still discredited any concerns about his physical and mental health. In Sept. 2023, Doocy asked the then-press secretary to explain why Biden repeated a story âword for wordâ just minutes after already telling it, which led Jean-Pierre to claim that he was simply making it âvery clearâ why he ran for president.
Biden confused French President Emmanuel Macron with former President François Mitterrand, who died from prostate cancer in 1996, during a campaign event in February 2024. Doocy then raised concerns during a Feb. 6, 2024, briefing about Bidenâs mental health and memory following that incident, prompting a visibly exasperated Jean-Pierre to say that she would not âgo down that rabbit holeâ with him.
Following Bidenâs disastrous debate performance in June, Doocy asked why Biden had stated that his brain is deteriorating. After Jean-Pierre said Biden âwas joking,â Doocy asked whether Bidenâs medical team had refused to test him for Parkinsonâs, dementia or any other mental health disorder that would interfere in his job as president during a July 9 briefing.
âAre you guys just not, since February, testing President Biden for Parkinsonâs or dementia, because if he gets a bad result, itâs all over that day,â Doocy said.
âAgain, as Iâve said many times before, the president has had a full-some, comprehensive â what we said, what we shared with you was comprehensive but he has had a full physical,â Jean-Pierre said. âWeâve shown the results of those physicals these past three years ⌠With all due respect, youâre not a doctor, Iâm not a doctor. Itâs the presidentâs medical unit that make a decision on what the president needs.â
In September 2023, Doocy had further pointed out that Bidenâs staff always escorted him out of public events, wrote notecards for him during press conferences and shielded him from the press. After asking why Bidenâs staff treated him âlike a baby,â Jean-Pierre claimed that Doocyâs suspicions were âridiculous.â
Jean-Pierre repeatedly assured reporters that Biden was as sharp and healthy as ever, and accused any footage that showed him in a confused state of being a âcheap fake.â She attempted to discredit any concerns even after his disastrous debate by repeatedly stating that Biden simply had a âbad night,â and claimed that there was no coverup by the White House to hide the then-presidentâs declining health.
