Singer Kellie Pickler opened up about the death of her songwriter husband Kyle Jacobs who died by suicide.
In an exclusive statement to People on Thursday, Pickler, 37, shared âone of the most beautiful lessonsâ her late husband, whom she married in 2011, taught her âin a moment of a crisis.â
âIf you donât know what to do, âdo nothing, just be still.â I have chosen to heed his advice,â she said.
The âRed High Heelsâ singer thanked her friends, family, and supporters for their support.
âIt has truly touched my soul and itâs helping me get through the darkest time in my life. As many of you have told me, you are all in my prayers,â she added.
Additionally, Pickler revealed she is planning âan intimate memorialâ for her husband which will take place âlater this fall.â
âThat is what Kyle would have wanted,â she said.
Jacobs died on Feb. 17 at the age of 49, according to People.
In an autopsy report obtained by the outlet confirming his suicide, no drugs were in his system, but he did have a history of âpseudoseizures, gastrointestinal bleeding, elevated liver enzymes, and chronic alcohol use.â According to Taste of Country, the autopsy stated he âsuffered a self-inflicted shotgun wound.â
In an interview with The Boot in 2011, Pickler gushed over Jacobs.

Pickler added she feels âso beautiful when Iâm with him.â
âHe always tells me he likes me better with no makeup on and sweatpants. He makes me feel the most beautiful when Iâm with him,â she shared, adding âAs long as Iâm healthy, then he is fine with whatever I wear.â
Picker opened up about him expressing his feelings for her in a journal.
âHeâs been doing it since before we got engaged and I started a journal for him,â she explained. âItâs one of those things you write in not for any special occasion but just because you love one another.â
She continued, âIt shouldnât take holidays for you to act like you like each other and be nice to one another. You should be like that every day.â
