A fight nearly broke out in the United States Senate.
During a hearing of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions on Tuesday, Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) read a tweet from Teamsters President Sean OāBrien that suggested he was a āfraud.ā
āGreedy CEO who pretends like heās self made. In reality, just a clown fraud,ā OāBrien wrote in June post, adding, āAlways has been, always will be. Quit the tough guy act in these senate hearings. You know where to find me. Anyplace, Anytime cowboy.ā
After reading the tweet, Mullin said, āI wish you was in the truck with me when I was building my plumbing company myself and my wife was running the office because I sure remember working pretty hard and long hours.ā
āThis is a time, this is a place. You want to run your mouth. We can be two consenting adults. We can finish it here,ā Mullin said.
OāBrien responded, āOK, thatās fine, perfect.ā
āYou want to do it now?ā the senator asked.
OāBrien said, āIād love to do it right now.ā
Watch the video below:
Mullin appeared to accept the challenge as he told OāBrien, āWell, stand your butt up, then.ā
āYou stand your butt up,ā the union leader shot back.
Mullin then stood, however, Chairman Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) ended the fight before it began as he told him, āStop it. No, no. Sit down. Sit down! Youāre a United States senator!ā
Eventually, OāBrien asked if he could respond to Mullin, but Sanders shot that down, saying, āNo, you canāt. This is a hearing and God knows the American people have enough contempt for Congress.ā
The Oklahoma senator shot back, āI donāt like thugs and bullies.ā
However, OāBrien quipped, āAnd I donāt like you ācause you just described yourself.ā
Speaking to CNN after the incident, Mullin said, āHe called me out. I was just answering the call. Donāt say something youāre not going to back up. Itās that simple.ā
