Starbucks barista Emily Mejia is reflecting on the viral video of her finding out that her 13-year-old sister, Megan, is now Cancer-free.
“That’s probably the happiest moment of my life. I was just, I just was in disbelief and it was just such happy news,” she told “Good Morning America.”
She goes on to mention how at the time she was in “work mode” when her mom drove up and told her the great news that her sister does not have Cancer anymore.
“It was the best feeling ever,” Emily Mejia said.
Megan was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in 2021 after going to the emergency room for pain in her lower body. This caused her to become wheelchair-bound and unable to walk.
Megan described the pain as like a “never-ending charley horse.”
Emily Mejia described her sister as a “social person” and said to see her “just completely change” was “definitely the hardest part.”

“We all just cried and hugged each other and hoped for the best,” Emily Mejia recalled.
