Alan Hamel, husband of late actress Suzanne Somers, revealed the personalized gift she was wearing as she was laid to rest.
In an exclusive interview with People, Hamel, 87, shared he ordered his wife Timberland boots which he penned with a special message.
âSuzanne never really had boots designed for hiking on the rocks, so I ordered the Timberland boots,â he explained. â made my gift personal by drawing on them in a few words that represented our life to some degree and made them very personal to Suzanne.â

However, he said her wearing the luxury shoes for her âfinal tripâ would âhave been predictable but not very personal.â
âEvery time she put on the Timberlands, she said, âI am wearing you, and my boots will keep me safe,'â Hamel recalled.
Somers was laid to rest on Nov. 30, according to the New York Post.
The âThreeâs Companyâ actress died peacefully in the early morning of Oct. 15, one day shy of her birthday. She was 76, per People.
Somersâ longtime publicist R. Couri Hay released a statement on Somerâs family following her passing.
âSuzanne Somers passed away peacefully at home in the early morning hours of October 15th. She survived an aggressive form of breast cancer for over 23 years,â Hay wrote.
The statement continued, âSuzanne was surrounded by her loving husband Alan, her son Bruce, and her immediate family. Her family was gathered to celebrate her 77th birthday on October 16th. Instead, they will celebrate her extraordinary life, and want to thank her millions of fans and followers who loved her dearly.â
According to Somersâ death certificate, obtained by The Blast, she died from âbreast cancer with metastasis to the brain.â Hydrocephalus and hypertension were also listed as underlying conditions that contributed to her death.
For over a year, Somers suffered from hydrocephalus, which causes âabnormal buildup of cerebrospinal fluid in the ventricles (cavities) deep within the brain,â per her death certificate.
