‘The Little Mermaid’ Actress Reveals New Mermaid Doll in Her Likeness

Singer Halle Bailey revealed a new Little Mermaid doll that was created to look just like her.

On Monday, Bailey, 22, showed off the doll in a video on her Instagram page and couldn’t contain her excitement.

“Today, I have something really exciting to reveal to you all. I am going to cry. This is the new Little Mermaid doll,” she said as she held up the doll.

She added, “I am literally choking up because this means so much to me, and to have one that looks like me that is my favorite 🏰Disney character is very surreal.”

Bailey also pointed out the doll has a mole in the same spot on her face she does.

“I’m just stunned. So, I don’t quite know what to do with it, but I’m going to steal this and take it home and hide it forever,” she joked.

In the caption of her video, Bailey continued to express how emotional the doll made her.

“omg the little girl in me is pinching herself right now ..i have my own Little Mermaid Ariel doll !!! I can’t believe how much she captures my version of this iconic character brb gonna go cry now …,” she wrote.

Bailey got the role of Ariel after auditioning for it in 2019, according to People.

“The Little Mermaid” will premiere in theaters on May 26.

In an interview with The Face, Bailey gave insight into what viewers can expect from the live-action movie.

“What’s beautiful about this version of ‘The Little Mermaid’ is that it’s a lot more modern,” Bailey explained. “When we saw it when we were younger, she gave up everything for the guy. But I don’t think reflects modern women today.”

Continuing, she said, “So it’s more about Ariel finding freedom for herself because of this world that she’s obsessed with.”

Bailey added that Prince Eric, who is Ariel’s love interest in the movie, “is a cherry on top. But it’s not all about him.”
