Months before his death, conservative activist Charlie Kirk delivered an enthusiastic endorsement of Republican Rep. Andy Biggs and his campaign for governor of Arizona.
That endorsement gained renewed attention Tuesday after Biggs easily captured the Republican gubernatorial nomination. The Arizona congressman received more than 73 percent of the primary vote, earning the right to challenge Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs in November’s general election.
Kirk had thrown his support behind Biggs well before the primary. In May 2025, Turning Point Action hosted a Biggs for Governor rally where Kirk spoke for approximately 20 minutes about the congressman, the conservative movement and the political future of Arizona.
At the time, Kirk was still celebrating President Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 election. He pointed to growing crowds at college events as evidence that conservative enthusiasm remained strong, particularly among younger voters.
“We at Turning Point, so decisively, are going all-in for a true conservative,” Kirk told the crowd. “Because it’s time for us to not just make America great again, but make Arizona great again.”
Roughly four months later, Kirk was assassinated while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. Tyler James Robinson has been accused of carrying out the killing.
Since Kirk’s death, Turning Point Action has continued to stand behind his endorsement of Biggs. The organization has given the congressman a lifetime score of 97.36 percent for his record of supporting what it describes as “America First” principles.
The organization’s profile of Biggs also highlights recognition he has received from conservative and taxpayer advocacy groups.
“Congressman Biggs is one of only 17 Representatives to have earned the ‘Taxpayers’ Friend Award,’ the top award in this category, for their outstanding voting record during the 2018 Congressional session,” the profile stated. “He was also awarded Conservative Excellence, which is the American Conservative Union organization’s highest award bestowed to lawmakers who vote to uphold conservative principles.”
