Radio host Charlamagne Tha God on Monday dismissed Democratic Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockettâs defense of her party amid its dismal popularity.
The Democratic Partyâs favorability has fallen 20% since January 2021 to a record low of 29%, according to a Sunday CNN/SSRS poll conducted March 6-9. Crockett had defended her party on CNNâs âState of the Unionâ Sunday, arguing that it has effectively fought back against President Donald Trump, but Charlamagne suggested on âThe Breakfast Clubâ that her remarks were futile.

âI canât believe that poll is just coming to this conclusion. I feel like Iâve been saying this for years,â Charlamagne said. âYou know what I mean? And Jasmine is great, but if I was a Democrat, I wouldnât even speak for the party right now because the party is in shambles. The party is in disarray. The party has no leadership. The party has no messaging.â
âSo I wouldnât even speak for the party and try to act like the party has it all together because guess what?â he continued. âWe all have eyes and we all have ears, and we can see that they donât have any direction.â
Only 63% of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents approve of their party, a nine-point drop from January and an 18-point decline since the beginning of former President Joe Bidenâs administration, according to the CNN poll.
âI want to say, as youâre talking about the polling on my party, I want to say that it is the Democratic attorney generals and some governors that are standing up against this administration and bringing those lawsuits and winning every single time,â Crockett said Sunday. âThey are losing in court. Could we do a better job of making sure that the American people know that we are winning in the courts? We probably could. But at the end of the day, itâs still Democrats that are winning for the American people.â
Moreover, only 27% of registered voters held a positive perception of the Democratic Party, an NBC News poll released on Sunday found, a record low in the outletâs polling since 1990, it reported. Meanwhile, 55% of registered voters had a negative perception of the Democratic Party.
CNN senior data reporter Harry Enten explained on Monday how low Democratsâ popularity ratings are, based on the NBC News poll and his own networkâs poll, along with Quinnipiac University polling on congressional Democrats.
âHoly Toledo, âvotersâ views of the Democrats in Congress.â Among all voters, disapprove 68%. And look at the approved number, just 21%, even lower than the Democratic Party at large,â he said. âThis is the lowest on record for Democrats, according to Quinnipiac University polling.â
âYou think these numbers are bad? Letâs go to this side of the screen. Weâll look at how Democratic voters feel. Get this, the plurality of Democratic voters disapprove of Democrats in Congress at 49%, and just 40% approve,â he added. âHorrible, horrible, horrible. Oh my goodness gracious. You just canât get worse than these numbers.â
Former MSNBC host Chris Matthews and âMorning Joeâ host Mika Brzezinski argued Monday that unchecked misinformation from Trump and Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) head Elon Musk are to blame for Democratsâ plummeting popularity.
âNobody checks the facts anymore,â Matthews claimed. âAnd the lies are getting through to the American people.â
Brzezinski agreed, adding, âI do think there should be a war room, a central command and a person, a voice, a figure who can call out the disinformation.â
