âThe Viewâ co-host Ana Navarro claimed Tuesday night that President Donald Trumpâs orders to deploy the National Guard was âwagging the dogâ to distract Americans from a failed presidency.
Trump ordered 700 Marines to back up the deployment of federalized National Guard troops Monday as the riots continued into their fifth day following a raid by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at a Los Angeles-area Home Depot. Navarro said Trump was trying to get people to avoid discussing other controversial policies and situations, including his feud with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. âHereâs something that I think is very important, that this is a distraction,â Navarro claimed on âCNN NewsNight.â âWhile we are talking about this, while Donald Trump is wagging the dog, we are not talking about the ridiculous âYo mama is so uglyâ contest that he was holding with Elon Musk until a few days ago.â

âWe are not talking about the parade that heâs throwing,â Navarro continued. âWeâre not talking about the big, beautiful bill that is flailing and that is going to leave 11 million people without health coverage. Weâre not talking about the failure of his tariffs and economic policy.â
The term Navarro used refers to a 1997 movie in which a scandal-plagued president fakes a war in order to win reelection.
