In 2021, the coupleâs youngest child moved out and they discussed being âempty nesters,â with People Magazine.
McGraw said, âYouâre used to getting up in the morning, taking kids to school, going to softball practices and basketball practices and cheerleader practices and all of a sudden all thatâs gone when your last one leaves.â
âThere were times when we had 15 teenage girls in our house talking about boys and life and everything going on,â he added.
âWeâre still a really close family; we talk all the time. But itâs difficult when your kids leave. All of a sudden they donât need you as much anymore. And I think itâs probably more difficult for Mom,â he concluded.
Hillâs music career took a backseat to her parenting. She noted, âItâs the thing Iâve spent the better part of the last 10, 15 years doing,â via People Magazine
âIâm not going to lie â itâs very hard to let go. Our job is to give them roots and wings. Sometimes thatâs an easier thing to say than others,â she went on.
McGraw and Hill began playing a couple in the show â1883â the prequel to âYellowstoneâ but family has remained a constant focus.
Hill explained their connection to People Magazine, âThe great thing is that they have still wanted to hang out with us and weâre grateful for that.â
