Star quarterback Tom Brady appeared to joke with President Joe Biden about former President Donald Trumpâs previous false belief that he won the election.
Biden welcomed the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the White House on Tuesday to celebrate their Super Bowl win.
âThank you, Mr. President. Itâs certainly an honor to be here. Thank you very much for your hospitality,â Brady said.
He then seemingly referred to the 2020 presidential election and how Trump refused to admit Biden won.
âNot a lot of people think that we could have won and, in fact, I think 40% of the people still donât think we won,â Brady said.
Biden chimed in, âI understand that.â
Brady replied, âYou understand that, Mr. President?â

The NFL star also appeared to joke about Trumpâs nickname for Biden, âsleepy Joe.â
âWe had a game in Chicago where I forgot what down it was. I lost track of one down in 21 years of playing, and they started calling me âsleepy Tom.â Why would they do that to me?â Brady said.
The team then presented Biden with a custom jersey.
As Politico notes, Brady declined to visit the White House in 2017 with his Patriot teammates. He cited âpersonal family mattersâ for the decision at the time. This allegedly angered Trump.
The outlet also points out Brady received backlash during the 2016 presidential election campaign for displaying Trumpâs âMake America Great Againâ hat in his locker. He made comments supporting the former president but later claimed they were taken out of context, as Politico reports.
Trump admitted to Fox Newsâs Sean Hannity in June, âWe didnât win.â
He added, âBut letâs see what happens on that.â
