President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to announce that a ā€œcomplete and total ceasefireā€ between Israel and Iran was imminent.

ā€œCongratulations to everyone! It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a complete and total ceasefire,ā€ Trump wrote.

The news followed a dramatic weekend after U.S. forces carried out airstrikes targeting three of Iran’s nuclear sites. In apparent retaliation, Iran fired missiles at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar according to the Associated Press.

According to a Qatari officer, ā€œnineteen missilesā€ were launched, one of which made an impact but caused no injuries. Trump, however, stated that ā€œ14 missiles were fired, 13 were knocked down and one was ā€˜set free.ā€™ā€

Iranclaimed that its strike mirrored the number of bombs dropped on its own territory and was launched at a location ā€œoutside of populated areas,ā€ a gesture that many analysts read as an opening toward de-escalation.

Trump asserted that Tehran had alerted Washington ahead of the strike, thanking Iran’s leadership for the ā€œearly notice.ā€

On June 13, Israel carried out a surprise operation against Iranian nuclear infrastructure, citing an imminent threat.

ā€œIt’s a really remarkable achievement,ā€ House Speaker Mike Johnson said. ā€œPresident Trump deserves all the credit. This is what peace through strength looks like.ā€

Vice President JD Vance applauded the moment as a historic pivot.

ā€œThe war between Israel and Iran — and the U.S. bombing of Iran’s nuclear facilities — will be remembered as ā€˜an important reset moment for the entire region,ā€™ā€ Vance told Fox News.

With the ceasefire set to roll out over the next day, Trump laid out a timeline — by midnight Tuesday EST, Iran is expected to cease all offensive action. Twelve hours later, Israel would halt its own operations. And after another half-day, ā€œthe War will be considered, ENDED!ā€
