The White House was a āsh*t houseā when President Donald Trump returned for his second term.
Since that return to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., Trump has directed several changes, including adding new gold decor to the Oval Office, renovating the Lincoln Bathroom to add marble and l more gold fixtures, and demolishing the East Wing to build a ballroom.
On Monday, Trump told an audience of law enforcement officials at the White House his opinion of condition of the building.
āThis place was not properly taken care of,ā Trump said.
He relayed first lady Melania Trump told him to āact presidentialā and ādonāt use foul language,ā but he continued, stating, ānormally I would have said it was a sh*t house, but I donāt wanna say that.ā
He then listed some issues with the building.
āThe columns were falling down. The plaster was falling off,ā he said, adding the paint job was in disrepair as well, but āthis place is tippy-top now.ā
Trump boasted āall the brand-new beautiful new stone, I paid for it myself.ā
āWeāre bringing the White House back to shape,ā he said.
āI spent a lot of time on bringing this house back, because this house was in very bad shape,ā he said.
The White House should be āincredibleā and āpristine,ā he said.
āAnd the big thing is, weāre building a ballroom in the back, which will be, I think, the most beautiful ballroom anywhere in the world,ā he said. āYouāll never see anything like it. And it will also be very safe. Itās going to be a very safe ballroom. Itās got glass this thick, itās amazing, the glass is this thick, like six inches thick, and you look through it, and you can see as perfectly as though it werenāt there. Now, how they do that, I donāt know, but itās at the highest level of safety, and you wonāt have a situation like you had two weeks ago on Saturday night,ā referring to the shooting at the White House Correspondentsā Association Dinner.
