President Donald Trump launched his attacks on Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) shortly after presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden selected her as his running mate, but he is adamant he does not take issue with her being in the race.
During his press briefing on Friday, a reporter noted Trump has been âvery bluntâ about how he feels about Harris.
Trump quickly fired back explaining how Harris treated Biden âworseâ than anyone else during the debates.
The reporter asked Trump if he has âan issue with a strong woman of color being in this presidential race.â
âNone whatsoever, as you know. None whatsoever, not at all,â Trump said.
Watch his comments below:
Biden made the announcement Harris would be joining the ticket on Tuesday, labeling her âa fearless fighter for the little guyâ and âone of the countryâs finest public servants,â as IJR previously reported.
It was not long before Trumpâs campaign slammed Harris calling her âphony.â
During his press briefing on Tuesday, Trump said he was surprised by Bidenâs decision because Harris had been âvery, very nastyâ to Biden, and âitâs hard to pick somebody that thatâs disrespectful,â as IJR previously reported.
Bidenâs campaign spokesperson Andrew Bates released a statement in response to Trumpâs remarks.
Bates said Trumpâs presidency is crumbling âafter his failed, divisive, erratic leadership has cost over 160,000 American lives, tens of millions of jobs, and left the United States the hardest-hit country in the world by COVID-19.â
He argued Trump is âdumbfounded after Joe Bidenâs selection of a strong running mate.â
In their first appearance as running mates, Biden defended Harris, claiming it is no surprise Trump takes issue with âa strong woman or strong women across the board.â
