Trump Tempers Comments on Timeline for a When a Coronavirus Vaccine Will Be Available

President Donald Trump is tempering his projection on the coronavirus vaccine timeline of availability.

During his one-on-one ABC News interview with David Muir on Tuesday, he discussed the clinical studies and trials currently underway and the probable timeline of availability for a viable vaccine for the coronavirus.

Muir pressed Trump on the timeline of availability, asking, “Are you still convinced there will be a vaccine available by year’s end? In 300 million doses, which you had spoken.”

The president tempered his projection saying, “Yeah. You can never be convinced. When you say, ‘Am I convinced?'”

“I can say this: We’re doing really great. Oxford, Johnson & Johnson, these companies and I get reports every single day. They’re doing really great. Am I convinced? I can’t be convinced of anything. But I think that we have a really good shot of having something very, very substantial.”

Trump’s comments on Tuesday come less than 48 hours after his previous comments where he offered a different perspective on the vaccine timeline.

During the president’s virtual town hall with Fox News on Sunday, there were multiple moments when he expressed confidence about the vaccine being available by the end of the year, as previously reported on IJR.

“I think we’re going to have a vaccine by the end of the year. Now, the doctors would say, ‘Well, you shouldn’t say that,’ I’ll say what I think,” Trump said.
