Former President Donald Trump is tossing his support behind former White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders in her run for Arkansas governor.

Trump called Sanders a ā€œwarrior who will always fight for the people of Arkansas and do what is right, not what is politically correct,ā€ in a statement on Monday.

He added, ā€œSarah is strong on Borders, tough on Crime, and fully supports the Second Amendment and our great law enforcement officers. She loves our Military and Veterans — and her home state of Arkansas.ā€

Trump continued:

ā€œSarah will be a GREAT Governor, and she has my Complete and Total Endorsement!ā€

ā€œMy opponents will do everything in their power to destroy me, but I will not apologize for who I am, for who I’m fighting for. I’m fighting for you. I will not retreat, I will not surrender and I will not bow down to the radical left,ā€ Sanders said in a video announcement Monday.

Sanders’ father, Mike Huckabee, who is a former Governor of Arkansas, weighed in on the announcement, tweeting, ā€œShe’s running to be 1st woman Governor of AR. But it’s not about her gender, but a lifetime of preparation. She’s smart compassionate, but fearless for what’s right.ā€
