Former President Donald Trump closed out his time on the campaign trail with a stop in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
āYour support means more than anything you can even understand⦠this is my last rally, can you believe it? The rallies, these big beautiful rallies, thereās never been anything like it and there never will be,ā Trump said at the event in Van Andel Arena early Tuesday morning, Fox News reported.
The stop in Michigan was just one of several Trump made Monday as the pre-election rallies came to an end. He also campaigned in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Michigan.
Trump took the stage in Grand Rapids after midnight Tuesday in his third campaign finale in that city ā his last event in 2015 was at DeVos Place in Grand Rapids and his last event in 2020 was at the cityās airport.
Michigan is one of the coveted swing states and has been the venue of many rallies by both candidates.
Both campaigns combined doubled the number of events and visits that were held there in the two previous presidential elections ā2016 and 2020.
Trump had a love-hate relationship with the state in those elections.
He narrowly defeated former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in 2016, but lost the state to President Joe Biden in 2020 in another close race.
Michigan joins Nevada, Arizona, Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin as key battleground states expected to play a key role in deciding the next president.
Trump has said this will be his last campaign ever and thanked the crowd for its support in his three campaigns.
āYouāre really incredible people,ā Trump said. āNow itās nine years and weāve been fighting side-by-side every step of the way weāve been together.ā
