President Donald Trump started the work week by blasting âunpatriotic Republicansâ and âDumocratsâ on social media.
The president took to Truth Social to complain about the two groups ânegatively chirpingâ about the war against Iran.
Trump urged lawmakers to âjust sit back and relaxâ as he claimed, âIt will all work out well in the end.â
âIran really wants to make a deal, and it will be a good one for the U.S.A. and those that are with us,â Trump wrote. âBut donât the Dumocrats, and various seemingly unpatriotic Republicans, understand that it is MUCH tougher for me to properly do my job and negotiate, when political hacks keep negatively âchirping,â at levels never seen before, over and over again, that I should move faster, or move slower, or go to war, or not go to war, or whatever. Just sit back and relax, it will all work out well in the end â It always does!â
He posted again a few minutes later, writing, âHas anyone ever seen a happy Dumocrat???â
Trump posted after the U.S. military said it struck Iranian radar, air defense, and command-and-control sites. This was in response to an attack on an American MQ-1 drone operating over international waters.
U.S. Central Command said American aircraft âswiftly respondedâ by targeting Iranian capabilities seemed to be a threat to shipping in the region.
There were also reports that Trump had sent back revisions to a proposed framework agreement between the U.S. and Iran.
According to previous reports by Axios, the draft proposal included a 60-day ceasefire, commitments to keep the Strait of Hormuz open to commercial traffic and future discussions over Iranâs nuclear program.
Citing U.S. officials, Axios reported Sunday Trump sought stronger language on Iranâs nuclear obligations and guarantees surrounding access through the Strait of Hormuz.
