President Donald Trump isnāt a fan of the Academy Award-winning film, āParasiteā ā or Brad Pitt, for that matter.
Last night at his campaign rally in Colorado Springs, Trump didnāt mince words when he shared his opinion of the 2020 Academy Awards.
With a brief statement about Americaās relationship with Korea, he opened the door for his discussion about the South Korean film. He admitted that he wasnāt pleased with the foreign picture winning Best Picture although he hadnāt viewed the film.
āBy the way, how bad were the Academy Awards this year, did you see it?ā Trump said as the crowd booed. āAnd the winner is a movie from South Korea ā what the hell was that all about?
āWe got enough problems with South Korea, with trade. On top of it, they give them the best movie of the year? Was it good? I donāt know.ā
After mocking the foreign film, Trump moved on to famed actor who won Best Supporting Actor for his role in āOnce Upon a Time In Hollywood.ā
āAnd then you have Brad Pitt, I was never a big fan of his,ā Trump said. āHe got up, said a little wise guy thing. Heās a little wise guy.ā
During Pittās acceptance speech, he cracked a joke referencing former National Security Adviser John Bolton who didnāt testify during Trumpās impeachment trial.
āThey told me I only have 45 seconds up here, which is 45 seconds more than the Senate gave John Bolton this week,ā Pitt said in his speech. āIām thinking maybe (director) Quentin (Tarantino) does a movie about it. In the end, the adults do the right thing.ā
After the award ceremony, Pitt offered an explanation for the joke.
āI was really disappointed with this week, and I think when gamesmanship trumps doing the right thing, itās a sad day, and I donāt think we should let it slide,ā he said. āAnd Iām very serious about that.ā
Although Pitt has yet to respond to Trumpās recent remarks, the film studio for āParasite,ā Neon, wasted no time tweeting a response, āUnderstandable, he canāt read.ā
