Former President Donald Trump is bashing the Oscars after the ceremonyâs ratings reached the lowest in history.
âWhat used to be called The Academy Awards, and now is called the âOscarsââa far less important and elegant nameâhad the lowest Television Ratings in recorded history, even much lower than last year, which set another record low,â Trump said in a statement.
He added, âIf they keep with the current ridiculous formula, it will only get worseâif thatâs possible. Go back 15 years, look at the formula they then used, change the name back to THE ACADEMY AWARDS, donât be so politically correct and boring, and do it right.â
Trump also called on the show to âBRING BACK A GREAT HOST.â
âThese television people spend all their time thinking about how to promote the Democrat Party, which is destroying our Country, and cancel Conservatives and Republicans. That formula certainly hasnât worked very well for The Academy!â the former president continued.

An average of 9.8 million viewers tuned into the show on Sunday. The number is 58% below the ratings from the show last year. The 2020 Oscars raked in 23.6 million viewers.
Piers Morgan was among others who criticized the show, âI didnât even recognize most of the small number of âstarsâ who tottered down the shortened rug â âcarpetâ seems an excessive description given its diminutive size â let alone care about the platitudes they spewed.â
He added, âIn fact, Iâve seen more famous people at my annual Christmas pub drinks party.â
