President Donald Trump’s approval rating has climbed to its highest level in several months after the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Iran aimed at ending the conflict.

The Daily Mail reported Tuesday that Trump’s approval rating has risen to 47 percent. That is the highest mark the president has seen since February, when Operation Epic Fury began.

The latest survey found that 53 percent of respondents disapprove of Trump’s performance.

“For the past three months, Trump’s approval rating in the Daily Mail/JL Partners polls has consistently stayed at 43 percent, up a tick from his all-time lowest approval rating this year at 42 percent in mid-March,” the outlet reported.

The poll was conducted from June 19 to June 21, shortly after Trump traveled to France for the G7 summit. Iran was a major topic at the gathering, and Trump repeatedly spoke about bringing the war to an end and the economic boost he believes would follow.

During an event Tuesday in eastern Pennsylvania, Trump said Iran had been cooperative so far, though he warned that the United States still had options if Tehran changed course.

“Iran has been great — if Iran is reasonable, if they’re smart. Otherwise, we’ll have to finish the job, which will take about maybe less than a week,” Trump said.

“But they’re going to be okay, I think. They’re going to do what they have to do, because we want to have it done,” he added.

Trump also pointed to falling gas prices as one sign that the conflict’s end could help the broader economy.

“The average price of gasoline nationwide is down 60 cents a gallon just from a short while ago,” Trump said.

According to AAA, the national average price for a gallon of regular gas is $3.93, down from $4.53 a month earlier.

Trump described the conflict with Iran as a necessary “detour,” arguing that allowing Tehran to continue gaining power would have created a far more dangerous situation.

“You can’t let them blow up the Middle East and then us, if that’s possible,” Trump said. “We would have gotten them before, but they would have blown up Israel, they would have blown up the entire Middle East… You want to see a bad economy. That’s a bad economy.”

The president also said the issue had been left unresolved by previous administrations, naming former Presidents Joe Biden, Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton. In Trump’s view, Iran’s growing power and technological progress made the matter too urgent to ignore.

Trump closed his remarks on an optimistic note, saying, “But our economy is ready to soar to levels the world has not seen before.”

The Daily Mail poll is roughly in line with Rasmussen Reports’ daily tracking poll, which has Trump at 44 percent approval. That is up from a recent low of 40 percent.

Other polls show a weaker picture for the president. The left-leaning Reuters/Ipsos poll has Trump’s approval rating at 34 percent. However, supporters of the president have pointed to the 2024 election as a reason to question how much weight should be placed on some polling. Ipsos showed then-Vice President Kamala Harris ahead by two points in a November 2024 survey, while Rasmussen had Trump ahead by three points in an October survey.

Trump went on to win the national popular vote as well as all seven swing states.

For Trump’s allies, the latest approval bump suggests voters may be responding positively to his handling of Iran and his argument that short-term pressure was necessary to address a long-term national security threat.
