Former Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley will not be meeting with former President Donald Trump anytime soon.
Politico reports Haley reached out to Trump on Wednesday to request a sit-down meeting with him at Mar-a-Lago but a source said he âturned her down.â
The publication notes they have not spoken since the Jan. 6 riots at the U.S. Capitol.
In a previous interview with Politicoâs Tim Alberta published last week, Haley tore into Trump for his behavior after the election, as IJR reported.
âSince the election⌠I mean, Iâm deeply disturbed by whatâs happened to him,â Haley said.
She added, âNever did I think he would spiral out like this⌠I donât feel like I know who he is anymore⌠The person that I worked with is not the person that I have watched since the election.â
Haley also criticized Trump for the way he treated Pence, â has been nothing but loyal to that man. Heâs been nothing but a good friend of that man.â
She continued, âI am so disappointed in the fact that the loyalty and friendship he had with Mike Pence, that he would do that to him. Like, Iâm disgusted by it.â
Haley told Alberta Trump âlet us downâ and âwent down a path he shouldnât have, and we shouldnât have followed him, and we shouldnât have listened to him.â
During an appearance on Fox News last month, Haley weighed in on whether Trump should be impeached for his conduct, as IJR reported.
âThe actions of the presidentâŚpost-Election Day were not great. What happened on January 6th was not great. Does he deserve to be impeached? Absolutely not,â she said.
Just days after the election, Haley said Trumpâs âactions since Election Day will be judged harshly by history.â
In an op-ed published by The Wall Street Journal on Wednesday, Haley went after the media for trying to divide Republicans and praised Trump for his policies.
âMost of Mr. Trumpâs major policies were outstanding and made America stronger, safer and more prosperous,â Haley wrote.
