President Donald Trump said an ICE agent hospitalized after a fatal Shooting in Minneapolis narrowly survived being struck by a vehicle, calling the incident an act of violent resistance against federal law enforcement.

According to the New York Post, in a statement posted to Truth Social on Wednesday, Trump described the woman involved as “very disorderly” and said the agent acted in Self-Defense after being hit.

“The woman driving the car was very disorderly, obstructing and resisting, who then violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE officer, who seems to have shot her in self defense,” Trump wrote while sharing a wide-angle video clip of the incident.

He said the agent was taken to the hospital following the encounter and emphasized the severity of the injuries.

“It is hard to believe he is still alive, but is now recovering in the hospital,” Trump added.

The president used the statement to condemn what he described as rising hostility toward Immigration and Customs Enforcement since his administration intensified its crackdown on illegal immigration.

“The situation is being studied, in its entirety, but the reason these incidents are happening is because the Radical Left is threatening, assaulting, and targeting our Law Enforcement Officers and ICE Agents on a daily basis,” Trump wrote in the same post.

He argued that ICE officers are being unfairly vilified while carrying out their duties.

“They are just trying to do the job of MAKING AMERICA SAFE,” Trump continued. “We need to stand by and protect our Law Enforcement Officers from this Radical Left Movement of Violence and Hate!”

Video from the scene shows a heavy federal law enforcement presence in the South Uptown area of Minneapolis, where the Shooting occurred. Authorities have confirmed that an ICE agent was struck by a vehicle before the woman was fatally shot.

Following the incident, a large crowd of protesters gathered in the area, prompting heightened tensions and drawing national attention.

The Shootingoccurred less than a mile from the location where George Floyd was killed by former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin. Chauvin was later convicted and sentenced to 21 years in prison for murder, a case that sparked widespread protests and unrest in the city and across the country.
