President Donald Trump is speaking out in the wake of former New York City Mayor Michael Bloombergâs announcement to suspend his presidential campaign.
On Wednesday, Trump took to Twitter with a series of tweets sharing his reaction to Bloombergâs announcement. The president mocked Bloomberg as he noted the former New York City mayorâs massive investment into his presidential campaign. Trump also criticized Bloombergâs decision to support former Vice President Joe Biden.
He tweeted, âMini Mike Bloomberg just âquitâ the race for President.â
âI could have told him long ago that he didnât have what it takes, and he would have saved himself a billion dollars, the real cost. Now he will pour money into Sleepy Joeâs campaign, hoping to save face. It wonât work!â
Trump, who described the presidential race as the âmost embarrassing experienceâ of Bloombergâs life, went on to offer what he thinks will happen next.
The president believes Bloomberg will also fire Tim OâBrien and all others who played a part in his presidential campaign.
Trumpâs tweets came shortly after Bloombergâs announcement. As previously reported on IJR, the billionaire businessman made it clear that he was leaving the race for the same reason he entered â to defeat Trump.
He tweeted, âThree months ago, I entered the race to defeat Donald Trump. Today, Iâm leaving for the same reason. Defeating Trump starts with uniting behind the candidate with the best shot to do it.â
He concluded by confirming his intent to support Biden, âItâs clear that is my friend and a great American, .â
Trump also took a moment to respond directly to Bloombergâs tweeted announcement offering a revised version of it.
He tweeted, âMini Mike, âThree months ago I entered the race for President to defeat Donald Trump, (and I failed miserably!).â
