President Donald Trump talked about his son, Barron Trump, wanting to be introduced to slain political activist Charlie Kirk.

Trump sat down for an interview with ā€œFox & Friendsā€ Friday morning, the Daily Wire reported.

The conversation centered around the death of Kirk, 31, who was assassinated Wednesday while on stage at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, for a Turning Point USA event, ā€œThe American Comeback Tour.ā€

ā€œHe was very hurt when he saw this. But, I mean, everybody was,ā€ the president said of Barron Trump.

Trump said his son asked the president to introduce him to Kirk.

ā€œBarron came to me and he said, ā€˜Dad, I’d like to meet somebody that you know, Charlie Kirk.’ … I thought he was gonna say he wanted to meet like King Charles or something … and I set up a lunch … and he came back and said, ā€˜That guy’s great, Dad. That guy’s great.’ It was cute,ā€ Trump said.

Trump spoke about the influence Kirk had over young Americans.

ā€œCharlie had a magic over the kids and large numbers of them, and very diverse, black, white. I mean, everybody, the young women and boys, and I’ve never seen anything like it,ā€ Trump said.

ā€œWe lost an unbelievable warrior,ā€ Trump added.

Kirk empowered ā€œyoung conservatives to speak the truth on hostile, liberal college campuses,ā€ the outlet reported.

ā€œIt’s kind of scary to say what you believe in, especially in this cancel culture,ā€ Porter LaFeber, a student at Utah Valley University, said to The New York Times. ā€œCharlie Kirk seemed like he just went totally above that. He kind of gave a voice to the people that were maybe a little bit scared.ā€

ā€œHe gave me the confidence to be able to believe what I believe,ā€ LaFeber said.

Tyler Robinson, 22, was arrested Thursday night in connection with Kirk’s assassination. Robinson was a resident of Utah. He did not attend UVU.
