Former President Donald Trump is blasting former Attorney General William Barr, saying he âcrumbled under pressure.â
Axios first obtained the letter Trump wrote to NBCâs Lester Holt. Calling Barr a âbig disappointment.â Trump added, âHe was afraid to act, and usually didnât.â
Trump claimed he âmade many great appointments during my Administration, and we accomplished more than most Administrations could even dream of, but Bill Barr was not one of my better picks.â
He continued, âHe crumbled under the pressure, and bowed to the Radical Left â And that is not acceptable. Now he is groveling for the media, hoping to gain acceptance that he doesnât deserve.â
The former president commented on statements Barr made during his interview with Holt.
âWith respect to prosecuting political rivals, it was just the opposite,â Trump said in response to the networkâs question about Barrâs statements. âDespite the many crimes committed by the Biden family, I did not push Barr to go after them. While the things done were legendarily corrupt, I thought it would be inappropriate for me to get personally involved.â
When asked about a statement Trump made during a December 1, 2020 meeting, the former president responded, âI never said âYou must hate Trump,â rather, I said âIf you didnât see corruption in the Election, of which so much has already been revealed (and massive amounts up until this date), than you are not capable of being Attorney General.'â
He added, ââYou donât have the energy or backbone to stand up to the Radical Left. Please give me your letter of resignation.'â
Barr responded to the letter during an appearance on âTodayâ Monday morning.
âItâs par for the course. The president is a man who, when he is told something, he doesnât want to hear, he immediately throws a tantrum,â Barr said.
Barr then called the letter âchildish.â
