PresidentĀ Donald TrumpĀ is unleashing a barrage of attacks on the presumptive Democratic presidential nomineeĀ Joe Biden.Ā
During an interview on āFull Measureā over the weekend, Trump was asked by host Sharyl Attkisson to say what he believes Bidenās āstrongest featureā is as a political competitor.Ā
āWell, I would have said experience, but he doesnāt really have experience because I donāt think he remembers what he did yesterday,ā Trump responded.
He also was apparently unable to list a good trait about Biden. But when asked about what he saw as Bidenās weakest point, Trump said, āI canāt tell you. I mean, Iām really serious. Heās got many. I can talk about weak points all day long.ā
In what could be a preview of the general election, Trump proceeded to attack Bidenās mental acuity.
He continued, āFirst of all, heās not mentally sharp enough to be president. Heās got China, and heās got all these countries.ā
āBut Biden doesnāt know, I mean, he doesnāt know heās alive. Iām against somebody. Think of it. Iām against somebody that canāt answer simple questions. Iāve never seen anything like it,ā he added.
Since it became clear that Biden was likely going to be the Democratic nominee, Trumpās campaign has been working to attack the former vice presidentās mental state and ability to be president.Ā
Trump has tweeted out videos of Biden during different events where he appeared to be confused.
Despite a series of polls that have found Biden leading Trump, Democrats have raisedĀ concernsĀ about the potency of Trumpās attacks on his mental state. Several Democratic operatives have raised concerns that Biden will not be able to match Trumpās bully pulpit while he has been sequestered to his home and unable to physically campaign due to the coronavirus.
However, members of Bidenās campaign staff have pointed to his come back during the Democratic party as evidence that he has a chance of shrugging off Trumpās attacks and building a broad coalition of voters that will help him win in November.Ā
