Fox News’s Tucker Carlson blasted Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) for allegedly telling Capitol Police officers to use their guns on January 6 rioters.

“Shoot American citizens for the crime of trespassing? Really? This is the conservative position?” Carlson said during his show Monday night.

He continued, “Unarmed protesters show up, look, they shouldn’t have been there. We never defended that and never would. But kill them? What the hell is wrong with you, Lindsey Graham? How long before you’re ordering drone attacks on people whose politics you don’t like?”

The Washington Post reported Graham was “irate that senators were forced to flee their own chamber.” He reportedly “yelled at the Senate sergeant-at-arms.”

Graham said, “What are you doing? Take back the Senate! You’ve got guns. Use them.”

He continued, “We give you guns for a reason,” reiterating, “Use them.”

In a statement to Fox News, Graham’s communications director, Kevin Bishop, told the outlet, “Graham was quite clear on this point, noting that the backpacks and other items brought into the Capitol could have contained bombs and explosives. The damage could have been much, much worse.”

Additionally, Graham allegedly called former President Donald Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, “repeatedly with suggestions for what the president should say.”

He said, “You need to get these people out of here,” adding, “This thing is going south. This is not good. You’re going to have to tell these people to stand down. Stand down.”

On Sunday, The Washington Post released a three-part investigation into the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.

According to the outlet, the investigation “lays out striking new details about the cascade of warnings law enforcement officials received before Jan. 6 and uses social media posts, text messages, videos and photographs to show how Trump radicalized his supporters and mobilized them to action.”

It also “features voicemails of threats made against election officials around the country, and includes intimate reporting about six individuals whose lives were affected by Jan. 6.”
