Vice President JD Vance is focused on being vice president and will decide after November’s midterm elections whether he will seek the Republican presidential nomination in 2028.
Vance talked with CBS’ “Sunday Morning” about that decision and will include talking with his wife, Usha.
Vance said he expects President Donald Trump to support whatever decision he makes.
“I have no doubt that the president of the United States is going to be very supportive of anything that I ultimately decide to do,” Vance said. “But we really just haven’t talked about what that thing will be.”
Vance any run for the presidency said he is not weighing a presidential bid while carrying out his duties.
“I’m not sitting around figuring out whether I’m going to run for president,” Vance said.

He said any decision about seeking the GOP nomination would come after talking with his family following the midterms.
“Usha and I will absolutely sit down and talk about what comes next for our family,” Vance said. “The way I make decisions is, I try not to make them until I absolutely must.”
Vance said Trump often raises questions about the future of the Republican Party but added these conversations have not involved detailed planning for the 2028 race.
