Hoover Institute senior fellow Victor Davis Hanson said Thursday that though the Democratic Party appears to be âhemorrhaging,â he doesnât believe they understand how much the ânew leftâ of their coalition is âdespisedâ by voters.
Throughout Vice President Kamala Harrisâ campaign against President-elect Donald Trump, Democrats and corporate media ramped up their rhetoric against the former president, even labeling him an alleged âfascistâ at one point. On âThe Victor Davis Hanson Show,â the senior fellow pointed out how âbulletproofâ Trump seems to be against Democratsâ name-calling attacks, noting that he believes votersâ anger toward âthe establishmentâ drives them to align with the former president.
âThatâs why Donald Trump is bulletproof. Thatâs not a good metaphor after the two , but my point is that they canât, they thought that, they donât understand, itâs even weirder than that,â Hanson said. âWhen they go after him and call him a fascist and a dictator, and they melt down, itâs not that that has no influence upon him. That makes Donald Trump more sympathetic, and people like to hear that about him, that he gets such a rush out of these awful people. That helps him.â
âThe antithesis is true too,â he continued. âI didnât think it was, but Iâm beginning to think it is, that when Donald Trump says things that youâre not supposed to say, you know, like, âKamala Harris was a low knowledge voter, low IQâ or something, or âdumb as a post,â ⌠When Trump gets out of hand, people are so angry at the establishment.â
âIf they hear Trump say something out there, and they think thatâs going to make the establishment angry, then thatâs fine with them,â Hanson added.

Hanson additionally noted that he doesnât believe Democrats understand that not only is the Republican Party âhappyâ with its current direction, but itâs the ânew leftâ that has transformed the Democratic Party into something more âanarchist.â
âI donât think the left have any idea â this new left â how despised they are by the majority of people. They donât understand the more they talk about âthe Republican Party has been hijacked,â the party, 94% of the Republican Party are happy where it is now,â Hanson said.
âItâs the party thatâs changed, the Democratic Party. Itâs the one thatâs hemorrhaging, because it doesnât even look like anything close to the old Democratic Party. Itâs a full-blown, neo-socialist, anarchist party,â Hanson concluded.
Last month, Biden had called for Trump to be âlocked upâ while speaking to a group of supporters at New Hampshireâs Democratic National Committee (DNC) office, though he quickly attempted to clarify that he meant âpoliticallyâ lock him up.
Despite past allegations that a second Trump administration would threaten democracy, Democrats appear to have backed away from such talking points in recent days. During his show on Thursday, popular radio host Charlamagne Tha God questioned President Joe Bidenâs recent meeting with Trump, asking how Biden could be cordial to the former president after such intense rhetoric against him.
