Video of ‘Avatar’ Director Flipping off Fans Goes Viral

Director of “Avatar: The Way of Water” James Cameron made headlines again after a video of himself reacting to an unhappy crowd circulated around social media.

The Twitter account Culture Crave posted the video with the caption, “James Cameron flips off crowd who boos him for not signing autographs.”

After he steps into the vehicle, Cameron rolled the window down and flipped off the crowd.

Earlier this week, Cameron made headlines after receiving backlash from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), as IJR reported.

While promoting the film in Japan, Cameron held a press conference.

During the event, scenes of the movie played on a screen and a stunt performer was seen performing stunts with a dolphin.

“I love these animals. I love their intelligence. I love their sociability, their ability to connect with us and to interact with us and learn from us,” Cameron said.

He added, “And I’m sure everybody asked their permission to be in the show.”

PETA tweeted in response, “Honestly, ? No, no one asked the dolphin’s permission to be in the show.”

CNBC reported over the weekend the film raked in $134 million at the domestic box office during the opening weekend.

However, as the outlet noted, it fell short of the $175 million industry analysts expected it would bring in and under the range of $135 million to $150 million Disney estimated.

“Although the film is opening on the low end of expectations, it’s important to again emphasize the long-term outlook,” Shawn Robbins, chief media analyst at BoxOffice.com, said to CNBC.

He added, “Audiences are showing a strong preference to see the film in premium formats, factoring into the volatility noted in pre-release forecasts.”

Robbins argued it is “premature to qualify the film’s degree of success at this stage, especially with Cameron’s history of long runs at the global box office.”
