A Boeing 777 sent sparks flying across a Kentucky runway Sunday after the plane’s tail scraped the ground during a go-around at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.
According to the New York Post, Kalitta Air Flight 264 was attempting to land when the aircraft went around, with the tail striking the runway during the maneuver, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
The Boeing 777-300 ER had flown from Brussels Airport in Belgium.
Despite the frightening incident, the aircraft landed safely at the airport around 8:15 p.m. local time.
Video from the scene captured the dramatic moment as sparks poured from the rear of the aircraft while it moved along the runway before lifting back into the air.
An onlooker could be heard reacting to the scene, repeatedly shouting, “woah, woah, woah, woah golly,” as the plane completed the go-around.
Kalitta Air Chief Operating Officer Heath Nicholl said there were no injuries among the crew.
The aircraft was taken out of service for inspection and evaluation after landing, according to the airline.
The incident is now set to be investigated by the FAA.
