Police in Washington, D.C., are searching for a suspect on the loose after a man’s head was reportedly set on fire.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division (MPD) announced in a press release that they were searching for a man who had “poured” liquid on the victim’s head and then set fire to the man a little after 3 p.m. Monday.

“At approximately 3:05 p.m., the suspect poured a liquid on the victim at the intersection of North Capitol Street and P Street Northwest,” the press release said. “The suspect then ignited the liquid. The suspect then ran off.”

Detectives from the MPD’s Criminal Investigations Division added the man who had been set on fire was taken to a local hospital for the “serious injuries” he had sustained.

After fleeing the scene on foot, the suspect was captured on a surveillance camera.
