A terrifying high-speed Crash in Volusia County turned bizarre on Monday when deputies said the driver of a stolen BMW insisted he had “teleported” into the luxury vehicle moments before slamming it off the road.
According to Fox News, deputies arrived to find 36-year-old Calvin Curtis Johnson bloodied, disoriented, and standing beside the mangled BMW, struggling to explain how he wound up in the driver’s seat.
Bodycam footage captured Johnson staring blankly as the questions began.
“I don’t know how I got in the car. I teleported or something,” he told one deputy.
Pressed again on where the BMW came from, Johnson repeated the same claim: “I don’t know. I teleported.”
According to investigators, the car had been stolen from Bicentennial Park in Ormond Beach. Its owner told deputies he’d left his keys hidden inside a closed cupholder while he took his dog for a walk. When he returned, the BMW was gone.
A witness at the park recalled seeing a man who “looked confused” lingering near the vehicle before climbing inside.
“He kept asking for a light,” the witness said. “I thought, how does he have a BMW if he doesn’t even have a lighter for a cigarette?”
Minutes later, another bystander watched the BMW tear down the roadway at what he estimated to be 130 mph before losing control and crashing. Rescue crews had to cut Johnson from the wreck, deputies said.
