The White House is firing back after House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) announced the launch of a formal Impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.
In a post of X, formerly known as Twitter, White House spokesman for oversight and investigations Ian Sams wrote, “House Republicans have been investigating the President for 9 months, and they’ve turned up no evidence of wrongdoing. His own GOP members have said so.”
“ vowed to hold a vote to open Impeachment, now he flip flopped because he doesn’t have support,” he continued, adding, “Extreme Politics at its worst.”
Sams’ tweet comes after McCarthy announced he was directing House committees to open an Impeachment inquiry into Biden.
Speaking to reporters, McCarthy noted allegations of corruption made against the Biden family, which he argued “warrant further investigation by the House of Representatives.”
